DESCRIPTION:West Coast Gravel celebrates the explorer in all of us as you make your way to the shores of the Pacific and take on the Siuslaw National Forest’s unforgettable backroads for a journey that would make Thor or Freyja proud!\nThis second day of cycling after the Oregon Coast Gravel Epic sits only 9 miles from Waldport south on the 101 to the fantastic community of Yachats\, Oregon.\nThe event features the Erik the Red loop with 53 miles\, or choose the shorter and less graveled Leif Erikson route with 32 miles and less climbing.\nMost of the terrain is new to many riders and has a thrilling twist that has seldom seen a bike tire on.\nPlease note that\, like all events at Aid 1 and the course split\, you can customize your journey if you have signed up for the Erik the Red loop and ride shorter.\nRelax in Yachats at West Coast Gravel\n  \nAfter a day of adventure on Saturday at the Oregon Coast Gravel Epic this event 30 minutes or more quicker by time! \nEither route will leave you with a smile in Yachats! \n\n\nBring your 35MM or larger gravel bike or mountain bike and enjoy the views and scenery of the Oregon Coast. Brace yourself for an extraordinary adventure as you immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty that gets better with every turn. \nTake on the 60-mile Abomination or the 37-mile Son of Abomination route. New for 2026 is the Uncle Abomination for 49.4 miles to spice things up. There’s also the opportunity to make it a double-header weekend with the West Coast Gravel event on Sunday in Yachats\, only 8.5 miles south. Thanks to the dedication of trail-building enthusiasts\, this experience continues to embody the spirit of adventure. \n\nCourse Highlights:\nA mix of fantastic old-school logging roads and approximately 35% singletrack most years\, designed to keep you on edge.\nChallenging climbs paired with thrilling descents make for a ride you won’t forget.\nBe Prepared:\nAn excellent front tire is a must to grip the dirt.\nWith temperatures usually between 50-55°F and a 40% chance of rain\, participants must be ready for anything.\nLocation and Legacy:\nSince 2001\, the event has been hosted in Blodgett\, Oregon—just 20 minutes west of Corvallis.\nThe tradition dates back to the 1991 NORBA State Championships\, which were held on this very ground.\n\nA heartfelt thank you goes out to Starker Forests for their support of the Mudslinger course and their commitment to recreation for all trail users in Benton County and beyond
