About

The Capital Region Transportation Council (CRTC), formerly the Capital District Transportation Committee (CDTC), is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties. The organization is responsible for federally-supported transportation planning in the region. A key focus of the CRTC is the development and promotion of bicycle and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure and programs. Through their Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, they work to create a safer and more accessible environment for cyclists and walkers. Their initiatives include the creation of a regional bicycle and pedestrian plan, which outlines goals and strategies for improving the transportation network for non-motorized users. The council's work aims to increase the viability of cycling and walking as alternative modes of transportation, contributing to a healthier and more economically vibrant community.
