Baker City, OR — The Baker City Cycling Classic will return in 2026 with its established three-day, four-stage race format, continuing its reputation as one of the Pacific Northwest’s most rewarding stage races.

Positioned as a legitimate opportunity for domestic teams seeking authentic stage race experience, the 2026 Baker City Cycling Classic combines two challenging road races, a pure individual time trial, and a high-speed downtown criterium in the heart of Baker City.

“For teams looking to build real stage race depth, Baker City offers something different,” said Race Director Brian Cimmiyotti. “We don’t rely on spectacle. We rely on stages that expose weaknesses and reward durability. Over three days, the strongest riders rise.”

A Proven Stage Race Development Platform

Past overall champions of the Baker City Cycling Classic include Sepp Kuss, Tayler Wiles, Brianna Walle, and Cameron Jones, underscoring the event’s role as a developmental proving ground for elite talent.

Unlike one-day events, stage racing requires strategic consistency. Riders must manage effort across multiple disciplines while navigating team tactics, recovery, and changing terrain.

“Our simple formula has always been the same,” Cimmiyotti said. “Three days. Four stages. No soft stages. The courses speak for themselves.”

Course Overview: 2026 Baker City Cycling Classic

The 2026 edition will maintain its signature format:

  • Stage 1 & Stage 4: Road Races
    • Two of the most spectacular road stages in the Pacific Northwest, featuring parts of the Elkhorn Drive Scenic Byway and the Grand Tour Route.
  • Stage 2: Individual Time Trial
    • A flat, power-driven test where aerodynamics and pacing determine the general classification landscape.
  • Stage 3: Downtown Criterium
  • A fast, technical circuit through historic downtown Baker City, bringing high-speed racing and spectator energy to Main Street.

This multi-discipline format creates a balanced general classification contest and offers teams a comprehensive stage race experience without the travel demands of larger national series events.

A Stage Race with Community Impact

Hosted in Eastern Oregon, the Baker City Cycling Classic is deeply integrated into the local community. The event brings riders, teams, and spectators into the historic downtown while generating economic activity for local businesses and hospitality providers.

“This race belongs to the town,” Cimmiyotti said. “Baker City shows up for it. That partnership is part of what makes the event sustainable year after year.”

A Strategic Calendar Opportunity for Domestic Teams

With increasing logistical costs associated with national stage race travel, the 2026 Baker City Cycling Classic presents a strategic opportunity for domestic elite and development teams seeking competitive depth in a focused environment.

The event’s structure, combined with a history of producing high-level talent, continues to position it as a meaningful proving ground within the U.S. road racing landscape.
