FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Madras, Oregon — The Madras MTB Race returns to Central Oregon on April 4, bringing cross-country mountain bike racing to the growing trail network in the hills above Madras. Produced by Zone 5 Promotions, the event builds on the legacy of the former Bonecrusher race while showcasing the evolving trail system developed by the local riding community.

The race takes place within the expanding Madras East Hills Trail System, a high-desert network known for its fast singletrack, punchy climbs, and sweeping views of the Cascade Range. Located just outside Madras, the trails have quickly become a destination for riders seeking dry early-season conditions and a mix of flow and technical terrain.

The Madras MTB Race offers a classic cross-country format designed to reward strong climbing, efficient pacing, and smart line choice. Riders will experience rolling terrain, open landscapes, and purpose-built singletrack that reflects the character of Central Oregon riding.

Originally known as Bonecrusher, the event earned a reputation for challenging racing and rugged terrain. The updated Madras MTB Race continues that tradition while highlighting the significant trail development that has taken place in recent years. Local trail advocates and volunteers have steadily expanded the Madras East Hills network, transforming the area into one of Central Oregon’s emerging mountain bike destinations.

The race welcomes riders across multiple ability levels, from experienced competitors to newer racers looking to test themselves on a well-designed XC course. Junior categories are also included, supporting the continued growth of youth participation in mountain biking across the region.

Beyond race day, the event provides an opportunity for riders to explore Madras and the surrounding high-desert landscape. With its wide-open views, dry climate, and expanding trail infrastructure, the area continues to attract cyclists from across Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.

Registration is currently open, with early pricing available ahead of race day.
