The Freewheelers Cycling Association organizes "The Assaults," one of the Southeast's premier annual road cycling events, which includes the Assault on Mt. Mitchell and the Assault on Marion. The event is a challenging, one-day, self-paced ride that draws nearly 800 cyclists from around the world, starting in Spartanburg, SC. The rides raise money for cycling education and safety.
