Route2Change Adds 3 Upcoming Events

Last year’s Ride for Magnus was unforgettable. Over 4,300 of you from 48 states and 24 countries showed up to honor Magnus and every life lost to road violence. It was a powerful event, and it meant the world to the family and supporters of the White Family, and The White Line.

One of the biggest challenges to bring about change in how we view the dangers and the tragedy surrounding vulnerable road users, is conveying it to lawmakers, who, with all due respect, spend their time in the capital or on the election trail.  Most have never experienced the reality of what a crash like the one that took Magnus White’s life looks like. They have never talked to families and friends to see the impact.  It is an impact that goes, to many times, un-noticed in that only 1 out of 10 deaths of cyclists by vehicles even makes the news.

This year,  The White Line has turned that collective grief and outrage into action.
This year, they launch launched Route2Change, a moving town hall that brings lawmakers on a bus, literally, to the exact places where pedestrians, cyclists, and other vulnerable road users have been killed. At every stop, they are able to honor lives lost, hear from families, and call for policy change.

After the bus ride there is an opportunity for other victims, and victim’s families,  to make statements regarding their experiences and impacts, followed by time to meet and discuss with individual lawmakers.

YOUR VOICE IS NEEDED TO MAKE THIS IMPACTFUL

This model is set to go national.  Route2Change launched August 16 in Boulder, but that was just the beginning. After Boulder, it made several stops in Colorado, including Colorado Springs and Aurora in the weeks that followed.

In the coming weeks, there are three more scheduled events, and your voice and presence is needed to make these events resonate with lawmakers.  The upcoming events are:
  • DENVER  October 23  The Denver Zoo 2300 Steele Street, Denver
  • HIGHLANDS RANCH  October 29  Southridge Rec Center, 4800 McArthur Ranch Rd, Highlands Ranch
  • FORT COLLINS  October 30  Center for Creativity, 200 Matthews St.  Fort Collins
👉 SHARE YOUR STORY IN-PERSON!  The White Line is looking for stories from vulnerable road users (people who walk, bike, or ride and are not protected by a vehicle) who were affected by road violence. The impact can be through loss, injury, or a near miss. Your voice can move decision-makers and shape the future of road safety.

We look forward to joining you at these events!
