After a sentencing hearing that lasted through the afternoon and into the evening, Amy Weise received her sentence today. On December 20, 2024, Weise was found guilty of Careless Driving Resulting in Death, in which she struck and killed 10 year old “Ollie Stratton” while he was riding his bike.
4 days prior, she pled guilty to Tampering with Evidence, by deleting the texts from her phone that were made leading up to the crash that took a 10 year old boy’s life.
Shortly before 7:00 PM tonight, Judge Ecton handed down his sentence:
This followed an emotional day of victim’s impact statements, from family members that have lived through a trauma that no one should ever have to live through. People in the courtroom also heard the pain of parents that were not able to grieve the loss of their son in peace when friends of the defendant, among other actions, fought to remove a GHOST BIKE set up for Ollie where his life ended.
Amy Weiss struck and killed Ollie Stratton near his home in Timnath, Colorado on August 3, 2023. Ollie died the following day. It was proven that Mrs. Weiss had been texting for over 30 minutes while driving and seconds leading up to the crash. She lied about the texts, she lied about deleting them, she lied about Ollie’s direction of travel, and while Ollie Stratton was gasping for breath, she deleted texts from her phone.
So…was the sentence enough?
Please follow us as we will have a more in depth article in the coming days regarding this case, insights from today’s hearing and conversations with various officials.
