After 16 amazing years, Kate Rau, founder and Executive Director of the Colorado High School Cycling League, is passing the torch. As Kate is stepping down, stepping up will be Chris McGee, who many of you know from his previous work with Bicycle Colorado and BRAC.
Kate founded CHSCL 16 years ago to empower youth, impact the present and shape the future, and she truly has made a difference. This week she officially introduced McGee as the Executive Director replace her.
Chris is an experienced cyclist, advocate, event promoter and longtime champion of youth development and community engagement. With over 25 years of leadership experience in the cycling industry, nonprofit work, and event production he brings a wealth of knowledge to the table.
A few highlights of his career thus far include:
Chris has called Golden, CO home for over 20 years and is the proud father and stepfather of 4 very active kids that take after “Dad” with his energy.
As a dedicated parent and volunteer, he has seen the magic of our League up close. He has witnessed firsthand the transformative power this program has on youth, families, and schools.
In his own words:
“My experiences as a parent, volunteer, and board member of a team have shown me the incredible impact that the League has on children, families, schools, and communities. I am very excited to help the League build on its incredible legacy and grow as a maturing, established organization.”
Kate has the upmost confidence that with Chris at the helm, the magic and fun of CHSCL will continue to thrive.
