The White Line is growing and we’re so proud to be supporting local chapters as they begin organizing and holding events for safer streets in their communities. This week, The White Lone announced the opening of their Arkansas Chapter.
The much needed advocacy work to protect individual vulnerable road users (VRUs) is coming to Arkansas. VRUs are not just cyclists, but includes runners, walkers, pedestrians in a crosswalk, children walking home from school and construction workers, among many others. Arkansas continues to rank poorly on a national level in safety and driver accountability and we have partnered with The White Line to help us change that. We want to show that Arkansas can be an example to other states as we work together to make our roads safer for all!
As always, these open houses also serve as a safe place for crash victims to share their stories and for our community to come together and collaborate on how we can prevent the deaths and injuries that continue to occur. For all of those who ride in fear of getting hit by a vehicle every day – we see you, we want to hear you and we will work tirelessly to make our roads and our beautiful state safer.
The Arkansas chapter will hold its first event this upcoming Monday, January 19, 6pm-8pm, at Pedalers Pub, in Bentonville Arkansas. Michael White will be there to share his perspective and knowledge and to answer questions about the non-profit his family started after their son, Magnus, was killed by a driver who fell asleep at the wheel. They’ve worked endlessly for 2 years already on this advocacy work and we can learn a lot from them! We will discuss The White Line’s mission, strategies and also discuss the legislation we are working to pass with automatic braking technology to detect VRUs because that can save thousands of lives.
This open house will focus on the following:
- Introducing The White Line’s mission and strategy and why we are starting an Arkansas Chapter
- The Magnus White Cyclists Safety Act of 2025
- Community building + Transparency in our work
It will be held at Pedaler’s Pub, 500 South Main St. Bentonville, Arkansas 72712
