At AvidCyclist.com, we are always on the lookout for businesses and individuals who elevate the cycling community. This week, we are thrilled to feature Tracey Jacobs Coaching, a premier coaching service dedicated to helping cyclists—especially women—break through their perceived limitations and achieve athletic excellence. With a philosophy centered on the belief that “What you believe – you can achieve,” Tracey Jacobs brings decades of elite racing experience and a holistic approach to coaching that transforms both the body and the mind.
A Legacy of Elite Performance and Technique

Tracey Jacobs is no stranger to the demands of high-level competition. Over the past two decades, she has raced road bikes, cyclocross (CX), and gravel at elite regional, national, and international levels. Her impressive palmarès includes earning a UCI World Championship title, a testament to her dedication, discipline, and profound understanding of the sport.
Interestingly, Tracey’s path to cycling excellence was paved by her background as a professional dancer and choreographer. “As a choreographer, you are teaching a company… you’re having them work together. And it’s just something I do really well,” Tracey shared in a recent interview with AvidCyclist.com. This background makes her a master technician on the bike. She emphasizes that while power numbers are important, “application is everything.”
“I don’t have a huge VO2. I don’t have a great engine. But I had to learn how to use technique and race tactics to have good finishes,” she explains. She focuses heavily on the nuances of riding: pedal stroke, gearing, body position, and gaining confidence on skinny tires. “Technique can be a superpower,” she notes, helping riders last longer and enjoy their time in the saddle more fully.
Comprehensive Coaching Services
Tracey Jacobs Coaching offers a variety of tailored plans designed to meet the unique needs of every athlete, whether they are preparing for a specific event or looking for comprehensive, year-round development. Her coaching is delivered via TrainingPeaks, allowing her to work with athletes remotely across the country, analyzing their data closely to provide highly personalized feedback.
| Coaching Plan | Description | Ideal For |
| The Basic | A 6-week to 3-month customized training plan for a specific event. | Self-motivated athletes who need a structured plan to meet basic goals without extensive daily guidance. |
| Elite | A custom training plan tailored weekly, including season planning, race prep, strength, and nutrition coaching. | Athletes seeking regular feedback with weekly check-ins and a more holistic approach to their season. |
| Professional | A totally customized, comprehensive plan fulfilling short and long-term goals. Includes one-on-one on-bike sessions, skills training, and race mentoring. | Highly dedicated athletes looking for intensive, personalized coaching, including technique work and performance mentoring. |
Tracey emphasizes the importance of long-term coach-athlete relationships. She prefers to work with athletes for a full season (10-12 months), noting that the best results come from taking the time to truly understand an athlete’s needs and refining their training accordingly. “I like to say that I’m your back pocket,” she says, highlighting the personal touch and care she brings to her small roster of athletes.
The Power of the Performance Mindset: “Raise Your Floor, Break Your Ceiling”

What sets Tracey Jacobs Coaching apart is the profound emphasis on the mental aspect of cycling. Tracey believes that being an amazing athlete is not just about pushing big power numbers; application and mindset are everything.
She identifies three key factors in developing a performance mindset: discipline, practice, and curiosity. “Many times in my career my biggest wins have come down to an equal combination of extreme physical output and mental discipline,” she notes.
Her guiding mantra for athletes is to “raise your floor and break your ceiling.” She explains, “You want to keep that floor up… if you have an injury or you have adversity. Raise your base, mentally and physically, and break your ceiling. Like, what are you made of? You have no idea.”
Tracey is particularly passionate about empowering women in the sport. “Women have kind of a subconscious belief, like, oh, well, I have to be feminine and I have to be beautiful,” she observes. “You can put those nails on and that lipstick… and go out there and dive bomb a corner, smash a hill, take the win… and you’re still beautiful. Aggressiveness doesn’t mean mean. Aggressive doesn’t mean dangerous. That’s just intense energy [that] can be positive.”

Upcoming Camps and Clinics: The Spain Training Retreat
In addition to individualized coaching, Tracey offers immersive, in-person experiences through her camps and clinics. These range from single-day clinics focusing on group riding and race practice to multi-day destination camps.
One of the most exciting upcoming opportunities is the Women’s Spain Training Retreat, presented in partnership with Vibe Tours. Scheduled for November 7-14, 2026, this all-inclusive camp takes place in a beautiful villa just outside of Málaga, Spain.
“The training part of it is mimicking what a person might get if they were on a team and doing a proper training camp,” Tracey explains. The camp focuses on road riding, specifically climbing, descending techniques, energy efficiency, and fueling for multi-day efforts. The all-inclusive experience covers everything from a professional female chef cooking at the villa to SAG support, coffee stops, and even a hot tub and sauna for recovery. With a cap of just 15 riders, it promises an intimate, highly focused environment for growth. (An early sign-up discount of $300 is available until April 30th).
